Traffic Management during Construction and Barricading for Dahisar to DN Nagar Metro-2A corridor and Dahisar (East) to Andheri (East) Metro-7 corridor 1. MMRDA has taken up implementation of two Metro Corridors: 1. Line 2A: 18.6 km from Dahisar to DN Nagar with 17 Stations and 2. Line 7: 16.5 km from Dahisar (East) to Andheri (East) with 13 stations · The civil work for both the corridors has commenced from Aug 2016 · For construction activity, about 2-3 traffic lanes will be barricaded · These two metro corridors will benefit more than 12 Lakh commuters 2. Traffic Management/Diversion plans With the objective to minimize inconvenience to commuters during Metro construction, MMRDA along with Traffic Police Department has detailed traffic management/diversion plans. Following measures will be implemented on WEH during Metro construction – 1. Reversible traffic lane on WEH from Shivaji Statue near airport to Dahisar in peak hours 2. Traffic management diversion plans 3. Making available service road by clearing on-street parking and other hindrances 4. Provision of extra AC buses from Bandra/Andheri to Dahisar. 5. Identification of critical location and planning of diversion routes to ease congestion 4. Appeal to Public – MMRDA and Traffic police jointly appeal to Mumbaikars for cooperation and support 1. Please follow car/taxi/auto pooling as much as possible 2. Use reversible lane for from Airport to Dahisar 3. Use diverted routes as per guidance/signage 4. Use public transport instead of private/owned vehicles 5. Avoid unnecessary peak hour trips 6. Please follow instructions of traffic police/wardens strictly 7. Avoid parking on WEH, service roads, Linking road, SV Road and diverted roads The above measures would help you and the city during construction of Metro corridors.
