On July 1st 1867 Canadian celebrate to honour their country's birthday. The historic event was marked by a 101 gun salute from Major Hill and by fireworks and rivalry on nearby Parliament Hill. The festival moved echoed over the years as Major Hill Park become a stage for weekly band concerts and eventually the home of an annual tulip festival.
